From Sorrow to Solace: A Tale of Resilience and Redemption with Jocelyn’s Compassion

It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news about my dear duck, Gary. I hesitated to make a public post until I could sort out the situation for his mate, Jewels. About a week ago, Gary, in his adventurous spirit, ventured too close to the dog’s kennel. Tragically, one of the dogs pulled him in, resulting in a broken neck. May he rest in peace; Gary was more than just a duck – he possessed the most endearing personality.

In the midst of my sorrow, I contemplated finding ducklings or ordering some for Jewels. Before taking any action, I turned to social media for advice, posting on Facebook and Nextdoor. That’s when the remarkable Jocelyn, the compassionate soul behind A Pig’s Garden, reached out to me. Her message was a beacon of hope.

Jocelyn had rescued a duck that bore a striking resemblance to Gary. This poor creature had endured a harrowing existence in an appalling petting zoo, confined in a tiny cube alongside a chicken. Picture a cubby for shoes—that was their world. When Jocelyn rescued him, he couldn’t even walk. Through her dedicated efforts and specialized physical therapy, he learned to walk like a duck again.

When Jocelyn offered him a home, provided it was safe, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. The transition was swift, and now this resilient duck is part of our home. Jewels, once forlorn, has found solace in his company. Thanks to Jocelyn’s incredible work, he’s emerging from his shell, a testament to the transformative power of compassion. In this bittersweet moment, I am profoundly grateful for Jocelyn’s kindness and the joy she has brought back into our lives.

Be sure to check out Jocelyn’s rescue that she runs called A Pig’s Garden!

Merry Christmas!
